IMG_3966 Brandon Mitts resides with his family in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  He received his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Oklahoma State University in 1998.  In 2007, Brandon earned his Masters of Fine Arts degree from Arizona State University.

While at ASU, Brandon studied primarily with artists Janice Pittsley, Anthony Pessler, Mark Newport, and Mark Pomilio.  He taught an introductory drawing course for two years.  Also at ASU, Mitts worked as a program coordinator for the Herberger Community School of the Arts in the areas of studio art and dance.

Brandon travelled to Italy in 1996 to study landscape painting.  He lived on a working plantation in the Tuscan countryside during the week and on the weekends travelled to Florence, Sienna, and Rome to take in the great works of art found there.

In 1999, Mitts served as an apprentice at Universal Limited Art Editions in New York.  Here he worked alongside master printmakers and world-famous painters that included Terry Winters, James Rosenquist, Kiki Smith, Elizabeth Murray, and Carroll Dunham.

IMG_3949 The work of Brandon Mitts has been exhibited internationally, across the United States, and extensively in Arizona and Oklahoma.  Most recently, his piece Burn Ban was accepted into the juried exhibition, Fiberworks 2011, at Living Arts Gallery in Tulsa.  You can contact the artist by email at mitts@okstate.edu.
