My one and only

Helmet

I love my son so much!  He is a very interesting young guy.  He's got potential to be a cartoonist, artist, comedian, sound-effects engineer, star-wars junkie, costume designer or rock and roll star.  For now, he's focused on being a first grader.

I forgot to link to my wife's blog...she does a great job with the pictures and family events (i.e. the photo on this page was stolen from her site.)  Check it out at The Mitts Family.

Happy Life

I turn 32 tomorrow (in less than 2 hours).  My main thought is that life has been really good.  Hard at times.  Painful at times. But overall, life has been good.

I am thankful for the experiences I can share with people everyday.  Something really cool is always happening and I want to slow down and savor it.

Tonight, I stood under the Texas sky, in the fresh air, and stared at the lunar eclipse with my kids and my wife.  That was wonderful!

T-Ball-Part 1

Noah has had two T-Ball practices, and his first game was today.  On Thursday, I drove him and the cheerleader (Natalie) to practice.  I took some time and told him how proud I was of him for trying so hard at T-Ball.  Honestly, he is not a great athlete yet.  Can't really throw, can't really bat...but he's five and he tries.

We arrived to practice on Thursday night and the three of us walked from the car to the field.  On that little trek, Noah said to me, "Daddy, I think you are a real dad."  Not a "real awesome dad" or a "really good dad"...he said he thought I was a real dad.

I can't think of a greater compliment.

Giving a drink to those who thirst...

In Arizona, where we live, everyone's yard is rock.  Our neighbors across the street ordered some more yard (rock) this weekend.  A truck dumped about a ton of it in the street, and three workers loaded the rock in a wheel barrow and spread it over the yard.

As we walked into our house when we returned from lunch, I asked my 5-year old if he thougt it would be fun to scoop up rocks when it was 113 degrees outside.  He realized that these guys were NOT having fun in the least.

Once inside, he told my wife that it would be nice to take a bottle of water to the guys working outside.  So Jackie took the kids with her and they deliverd the bottles to some smiling rock spreaders.

I am amazed that children recognize the needs of others.

I am thankful that my child took a step in God's direction...and gave some guys a drink.

Thank you all for the prayers.  She is a beautiful gift!

Dad, we are so proud of you!

Check out this article about my dad!  He is running for city council in my hometown of Guymon, Oklahoma.  This is so exciting.  I really hope that he wins and can bring some positive change to the community.  But if he doesn't win...he still is awesome!!

Happy Birthday, Bro!

Brandon_perm_head_3

Nothing like a little mutual public humiliation to say, "I love you, man."   I am the one with the fro and my big brother is the one in the front with the feathers.  Seriously...we thought we looked good.  I am glad that we are both now thirtysomethings with impeccable style and ravishing looks.

Hey Bro., remember the time Norman and I made you that birthday cake out of dog food?  That was from the heart, man!  I hope you have a fun time celebrating 3-2.  Happy Birthday!
