Last week, Jackie and I had dinner with our friends Pierre and Scarlet Daoud. They are from Lebanon and have family there now, so it was intense listening to them describe what is really going on in the current war. They have such concern and passion when it comes to this topic. I asked if they would share their knowledge of the Israel/Lebanon conflict so that we can all understand what is truly at stake.
Scarlet put together a powerful essay that gets to the bottom of the current fighting.
Here is an excerpt.
"Whose war is this anyway and why is it taking place and why hasn’t it ended yet? It is sad when other big countries have issues with one another, yet they use smaller countries to fight their battles. With this they think they have saved their own people from suffering terror and they have saved their land and countries from suffering economic and environmental losses. They too have committed violations to the humanitarian laws! Unfortunately, this war is being fought using the wrong players on the wrong playground. "
